New poster for Glass Eye Pix’s SXSW film “THE RANGER” echoes classic slashers

A new psycho for the 21st century is introduced in THE RANGER, the Glass Eye Pix production world-premiering next week at the SXSW Film Festival. A new poster in the great slasher-movie tradition has just been released; see it after the jump.

The directorial debut of longtime Glass Eye producer Jenn Wexler, THE RANGER was scripted by Giaco Furino and Wexler and stars Chloe Levine (THE TRANSFIGURATION), Granit Lahu, Jeremy Pope, Bubba Weiler, Amanda Grace Benitez, Jeremy Holm and Larry Fessenden, with makeup effects by Brian Spears. It premieres at SXSW on Monday, March 12 at 11:55 p.m., and has follow-up showings Tuesday, March 13 at 11:30 p.m. and Thursday, March 15 at 11:15 a.m. (New York-area fans can catch it later this month at What the Fest!?; see details here.) The synopsis: When Chelsea [Levine] and her friends get in trouble with the cops, they flee the city and go on the run. Fueled by a hallucinogenic drug called Echo, they hope to lay low—and get high—in an old family hideout in the woods. But Chelsea’s got reservations about going back to nature and secrets she’s not sharing with her friends. When a shot rings out, her past comes crashing back, and the punks find themselves pitted against the local authority—an unhinged park ranger [Holm] with an axe to grind.”
