Following in the giant footsteps of GODZILLA MINUS ONE’s black-and-white edition from earlier this year, the kaiju’s previous showcase SHIN GODZILLA has been given a similar conversion. SHIN GODZILLA: ORTHOCHROMATIC will make its international premiere as part of New York City’s 17th annual “Japan Cuts: Festival of New Japanese Film” at Japan Society (333 East 47th Street). Screenings will take place Sunday, July 14 at 9 p.m. and Sunday, July 21 at 8:30 p.m.; the fest description: “Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi’s 21st century masterpiece is reborn with this stunning black-and-white version. ORTHOCHROMATIC adds new dimensions to the film’s visual impact by rendering it in orthochromatic (“ortho” for short) black-and-white, a type of monochrome characterized by starker contrasts and more pronounced blacks.
