FX has renewed American Horror Story for a fourteenth season, the network has confirmed, giving Ryan Murphy‘s long running anthology another life before its current cycle has even finished airing.
Season thirteen, which stars Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange among a sprawling ensemble, wraps its run October 29 with new episodes streaming on Hulu. The renewal is being described as the show’s biggest premiere yet on Hulu and Disney+, though Rue Morgue has not independently verified those figures.
Though details on season fourteen remain scarce, the renewal extends a run that has made American Horror Story FX’s longest running series, with seventeen Emmy wins along the way. The show was last renewed in bulk back in 2020, when FX ordered three seasons at once, so a standalone fourteenth season marks a change of pace.
Whatever season fourteen turns out to be, it follows a season that leaned hard on nostalgia, reuniting original stars Paulson, Peters, Bassett and Lange alongside Bates. Fans hoping for early hints at a theme, location or decade will have to wait: for now, American Horror Story‘s next chapter is a blank – or black – canvas.
