Boston Underground Film Festival sets fest fave “OBSESSION,” “TEXAS CHAINSAW 2” with Moseley and more

A few of the genre’s best current directors are part of the event’s first announcement.

The Boston Underground Film Festival has unveiled the first titles for its 26th edition, which will take place Wednesday-Sunday, March 18-22 at the Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square and the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline. Screening opening night is the action/black comedy NORMAL, the latest from KILL LIST, A FIELD IN ENGLAND and IN THE EARTH director Ben Wheatley, starring Bob Odenkirk (BETTER CALL SAUL, NOBODY). Also part of the lineup are OBSESSION, the TIFF Midnight Madness favorite from Curry Barker (MILK & SERIAL), and SACCHARINE, the latest from acclaimed RELIC filmmaker Natalie Erika James. The centerpiece of the repertory selection is a 40th-anniversary showing of Tobe Hooper’s THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2, presented by Rucking Fotten and accompanied by star Bill Moseley, who will do a post-screening Q&A and meet-and-greet. The full lineup will be announced soon; more info can be found at the fest’s official website. Festival badges will go on sale at 12 p.m. ET on Wednesday, February 18 at brattlefilm.org
