JOEL HARLOW’S “OLD TIME RADIO” SHORT FILM ANTHOLOGY PREMIERES ON SCREAMBOX THIS DECEMBER

Academy Award–winning makeup and character designer Joel Harlow

If you’re a die-hard fan of the art and artistry of practical effects, Screambox has an early Christmas gift for you, courtesy of veteran makeup and character design artist Joel Harlow (Disney’s Haunted Mansion, Evil). The Academy Award-winner’s years-in-the-making horror anthology, OLD TIME RADIO, will premiere on the subscription genre streamer this December, accompanied by A CHRONICLE OF CREATIVITY, an in-depth documentary featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the builds and practical FX work behind the series.

Narrated by actor Paul Giamatti, OLD TIME RADIO blends vintage horror atmosphere with Harlow’s signature practical creature effects and handcrafted visuals. Keep an eye out for special cameo appearances by icons such as legendary effects artist Rick Baker, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, master filmmaker John Landis and indie favorite Kevin Smith.

“They have been a passion project of mine for many years now, and I try to add a new chapter when I can between makeup effects projects,” Harlow stated in an email to RUE MORGUE.

“Weird! Creepy! And very funny! Just like Joel Harlow! A work of oddball genius! I loved it! And NOT just because I’m in it!,” Giamatti says of the series.

The first two installments, “Old Time Radio” and “Your Move,” and A CHRONICLE OF CREATIVITY will debut on Screambox on December 12, with “Dance With Me” and “The Specter of Christmas” to follow soon after.

Keep an eye on RUE MORGUE for more about Harlow and OLD TIME RADIO coming soon!
