The movie that turns the star of STEAMBOAT WILLIE into a slasher is coming next year.
The producers of SCREAMBOAT have announced that they’ve signed a deal with Iconic Events to bring their movie to theaters in 2025. Director Steven LaMorte of the horrific Grinch takeoff THE MEAN ONE is behind this macabre Mickey Mouse variant, and is producing with MEAN ONE collaborators Amy Schumacher and Martine Melloul, along with Steven Della Salla and Michael Leavy of TERRIFIER 2 and the upcoming TERRIFIER 3. The synopsis: “A mischievous mouse stalks a group of New Yorkers on a late night ferry ride, unleashing murderous mayhem on a relaxing commute. Can the ship’s motley crew of travelers find a way to stop a killer creature who has developed a taste for tourists?”
Shooting on what the filmmakers promise will be a major bloodbath begins this spring on New York City locations. Christian Beckman‘s Quantum Creation FX, Inc. (THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER) is creating the maniacal mouse, based on designs by concept artist Christian Cordella (AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER). The movie will boast a mix of practical effects, prosthetics, miniatures and virtual production to bring Willie and his mayhem to the screen.
