Midnight Syndicate Invokes The Madness Of 19th Century France With New Studio Album “THE BRIMSTONE CLUB”

As the world’s prime purveyors of horror and fantasy-inspired music, the legendary Midnight Syndicate long ago cornered the market on the sounds of the Samhain season. Just as Bing Crosby owns Christmas, composers Edward Douglas and Gavin Goszka have put their indelible stamp on Halloween. With their music featured in hundreds of haunted attractions internationally, Midnight Syndicate makes much more than spooky minor-key music punctuated with sound effects. In their own words, Douglas and Goszka create “soundtracks to imaginary films,” with the theater existing wholly within the listener’s imagination.

THE BRIMSTONE CLUB, Midnight Syndicate’s 15th studio album, continues the group’s quarter-of-a-century legacy of aural horror, invoking the spirit of fin de siècle French decadence and madness.

“The album was inspired by the Parisian Cabaret de L’Enfer, a 19th century hell-themed cabaret that was a forerunner to the haunted attractions and themed restaurants and taverns of today,” says Midnight Syndicate founder and co-composer Edward Douglas.

“Sometimes a piece of history can prove to be every bit as fascinating as anything one might imagine,” Midnight Syndicate co-composer Gavin Goszka adds.

As with previous Midnight Syndicate releases, THE BRIMSTONE CLUB is best experienced in the theater of the mind. “We hope people are able to listen to it at least once from start to finish in a quiet, darkened room,” Douglas explains. “There’s a lot in this world to explore in your mind’s eye.”

However, you haven’t truly experienced Midnight Syndicate until you’ve seen them live. Catch them performing in their all-new show Echoes of the Brimstone Club featuring Midnight Syndicate every Friday and Saturday now through October 28 as part of the Cedar Point Amusement Park’s annual HalloWeekends in Sandusky, Ohio. Performance times are 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, and 10:30 p.m., daily.
