Anthology “PORTALS,” from “BLAIR WITCH” and “V/H/S” creators, finds distribution

A number of filmmakers with omnibus experience came together for PORTALS, a collection of sci-fi/horror stories that has now been picked up for release.

Screen Media has announced its acquisition of worldwide rights to PORTALS, with a multiplatform break planned for this fall. The segments were directed by Eduardo Sanchez (THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT), Gregg Hale (V/H/S 2, BLAIR WITCH producer), Timo Tjahjanto (V/H/S 2) and Liam O’Donnell (SKYLINE). Brad Miska and Chris White (the V/H/S series) produced with J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules (PLEDGE); White also created the concept. The synopsis: “The genre-bending story takes place during a series of worldwide blackouts, after which millions of mysterious cosmic anomalies appear everywhere across the planet. While many flee from the sentient objects, the real terror sets in as people are drawn toward—and into—them.”

“We are thrilled to be working with Screen Media to help bring this innovative new anthology to life with so many creative collaborators we admire,” Lifshitz says, and Screen Media’s Seth Needle adds, “We’ve been looking for a project to do together with these producers for a long time, and we feel really lucky to find one with this caliber of talent involved. Heads up, genre fans.”
