Acclaimed at its SXSW premiere (under the title THE COW) earlier this year, the psychothriller is now targeting wider release.

Vertical Entertainment has set a July 15 theatrical release for GONE IN THE NIGHT, with a VOD/digital premiere to follow August 2. Eli Horowitz (Prime Video’s HOMECOMING) directed from a script he wrote with Matthew Derby, and the film stars Winona Ryder (STRANGER THINGS), John Gallagher Jr. (10 CLOVERFIELD LANE, HUSH), Owen Teague, Brianne Tju (UNHUMAN) and Dermot Mulroney. The synopsis: “Upon arriving at a remote cabin in the redwoods, Kath [Ryder] and her boyfriend [Gallagher] find a mysterious young couple [Teague and Tju] already there—the rental has apparently been double-booked. With nowhere else to go, they decide to share the cabin with these strangers. When her boyfriend mysteriously disappears with the young woman, Kath becomes obsessed and enlists an unlikely supporter [Mulroney] with finding an explanation for their sudden breakup—but the truth is far stranger than she could have ever imagined.” A caveat: The trailer below looks like it gives away a lot.
