Fresh from its premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival and a stateside debut at Tribeca, filmmaker Jennifer Reeder‘s (Knives and Skin) PERPETRATOR is coming to theaters and Shudder this September. Ahead of the film’s wide release, the horror streamer has dropped the poster art and trailer for this feminist coming-of-age horror noir.

A sardonic and frightening blend of surreal imagery, black comedy and teen horror, the film stars Kiah McKirnan (Mare of Easttown, Prime’s Night Sky) as Jonny Baptiste, a reckless young woman sent to live with her estranged Aunt Hildie (played by ’90s mainstay Alicia Silverstone). However, high school drama takes a backseat after she undergoes a shocking metamorphosis brought on by a family spell on her 18th birthday. When several girls go missing, a transformed Jonny is determined to track down the perpetrator. Melanie Liburd (Power Book II, the upcoming Bad Boys 4) and Christopher Lowell (Promising Young Woman, How I Met Your Father) also star.

PERPETRATOR premieres exclusively in theaters and on Shudder on September 1.
