The strange, sometimes surreal independent chiller is coming next month.
RUE MORGUE got the first word that Red Water Entertainment will release HEAD LIKE A HOLE, beginning with Apple, Google Play and other TVOD/rental platforms October 20, followed by SVOD and then AVOD platforms. Directed by Stefan MacDonald-Labelle from a script he wrote with Mitchell Brhelle, it stars Steve Kasan, Jeff McDonald, Eric B. Hansen, James Llewellyn Evans and Brhelle. The synopsis: “Asher [Kasan], a recently unhoused man living out of his car, answers a strange help-wanted ad promising high pay and no experience required. He is led to a suburban bungalow, where he’s met by an unsettling manager named Emerson [McDonald] who reveals the job details: live in the house and record hourly measurements of a small hole in the basement wall. With nowhere else to go, Asher accepts the lucrative job. The work is monotonous and secretive. Emerson refuses to explain the company’s purpose, insisting only that the hole must be strictly monitored. The house is populated by other employees, including Sam [Hansen], a kindly facilities worker who draws Asher’s attention, and an Auditor [Brhelle] who refuses to speak to Asher.
“As the days stretch into months, isolation and routine begin to erode Asher’s sanity. Subtle disturbances grow into terrifying phenomena. Asher experiences vivid hallucinations, hears private conversations through the walls, and notices unnatural disturbances in the sky. He discovers evidence of the previous researcher’s breakdown, yet whenever he questions the nature of their work, Emerson hides behind claims of confidentiality. Soon, the impossible happens: the hole begins to grow.” You can see our review of HEAD LIKE A HOLE here.
