Steam Next Fest wrapped up weeks ago, but Phase 8 Studio isn’t finished tinkering with CODE EXIT. The co-op survival horror title just pushed Demo 2.0 live on Steam and the Epic Games Store, folding in lessons from a global playtest that ran three weeks.
CODE EXIT drops up to four players, or a lone operative willing to go it alone, into Pantheon, a derelict facility overrun by Minerva, a rogue artificial intelligence that studies every move its prey makes. Try the same flanking manoeuvre or the same hiding spot twice, and Minerva adapts, turning an escape route into a death sentence. It’s a nasty little feedback loop that gives the game real teeth, rather than relying on the jump scares alone.
The update adds a new tutorial stage for players discovering Pantheon’s claustrophobic corridors for the first time, along with refined menus and fully customizable keyboard bindings. Multiplayer performance has been smoothed out across the board, but the two standout additions are MiRO, a small support robot, which now lets a downed teammate keep contributing to the squad’s survival instead of sitting out the rest of the mission. Meanwhile, an Offline S.O.M.A. system reacts to noise and movement even when nobody’s actively watching that corner of the map, so there’s no longer such a thing as a safe room.
LINE Games, publishing the Korean developed title internationally, hasn’t wavered from CODE EXIT‘s 2027 release window for PC, but the studio is clearly using every spare month to stress test the loop that will carry the full game. For horror fans who like their scares to come from an adaptive, thinking adversary rather than a scripted one, the demo is free to try right now.
