Paramount’s Horror Icons Join “Hellbreak” Trading Card Game

Card art revealed for Hellbreak TCG's expanded Paramount Pictures license

Spin Master has expanded its licensing deal with Paramount Pictures, adding monsters from Smile, Sleepy Hollow and A Quiet Place to the card pool of Hellbreak, its horror-themed trading card game. The three franchises join Friday the 13th, which Spin Master licensed from Paramount back at Gen Con 2026 to bring Jason Voorhees into the game. Each new addition arrives with its own inherent monster iconography: the headless horseman of Sleepy Hollow, the sound-hunting terrors of A Quiet Place, and the rictus grin that spreads from victim to victim in Smile.

Hellbreak comes from Spin Master and game design studio Ghost Galaxy, built around what the companies call a “Monster Sandbox” arena where horror icons fight to the end. The card pool launched with Universal’s stable of classic and modern monsters, then added a second wave of characters from AMC, Blumhouse and Lionsgate. Paramount’s expanded involvement marks a third wave, and Doug Wadleigh, Spin Master’s President of Toys, said that adding Paramount Pictures’ catalogue of terrifying monsters will “elevate the gameplay experience.”

Spin Master hasn’t yet said which specific monsters from Smile, Sleepy Hollow or A Quiet Place will get their own cards. The game’s debut set, Dawn of Terror, ships to retail in January 2027 and is built around more than 250 cards of custom illustrated art; preorders are already open through hobby retailers, including a Collector Booster Bundle and a two-player Jaws vs. Dracula starter set.

Spin Master itself is a Toronto toy company, which makes Hellbreak one of the more unexpected Canadian entries into horror collectibles this year.
