Exclusive photos: “DEAD JANITORS CLUB,” from a true story, with Gary and Jake Busey

It’s a gruesome job, and the movie is based on real-life experiences.

DEAD JANITORS CLUB, from directors Kenny Gage and Devon Downs (ANARCHY PARLOR) and producer Robert Rhine of Girls and Corpses Films, is now in postproduction. Jeff Klima scripted from his book of the same title, based on the true story of his time as a crime-scene cleaner in Orange County, CA. He’s played in the film by Felix Merback (1st photo below, and 2nd photo at right with Klima), and the cast also includes Gary and Jake Busey, Brianna Gage, Jake Holley and Ginger Lynn Allen.

The synopsis: “After toiling for minimum wage working in a porn shop, Jeff Klima got an unexpected offer: to head up a brand new crime scene cleanup company. His boss is a scheming police officer, Dirk [Jake Busey], trying to make a fast buck off of his young partner’s hard work. The upside? A chance to make quick cash in a field with little competition. The downside? Everything else about the job. Along the way, Jeff meets a tattoo artist who will change his romantic circumstances, Kerry [Gage], and a stoner friend, Chris [Holley], with a self-fulfilling hobby. Also, Jeff has a dark angel, Celeste [Allen], who helps guide Jeff towards the light.

“DEAD JANITORS CLUB is an engrossing, gory, morbidly fascinating memoir of life and death, from someone whose life is ‘death.’ From Klima’s first crime scene gig–where a piece of brain fell off the ceiling and into his eye―DEAD JANITORS CLUB is more than just a retelling of crime scenes and what it takes to clean them up. It is a memoir about struggling to survive love, life, and keeping one’s sanity when one never knows if, the next time the phone rings, you must delve into the darker side of life and death.”

“I have been wanting to make this movie ever since I read THE DEAD JANITORS CLUB 10 years ago, when I interviewed Jeff Klima for Girls and Corpses magazine,” Rhine says. “Whether this is Gary Busey’s last movie remains to be seen, but he did a fantastic job and had a great time working with his son Jake. There’s still gas left in Gary’s tank, and I think he gave a killer, memorable performance.”
