“Werewolves Within” Director Josh Ruben On What Scares Him

After a proposed gas pipeline creates divisions within the small town of Beaverfield, and a snowstorm traps its residents together inside the local inn, newly arrived forest ranger, Finn (Sam Richardson) and postal worker, Cecily (Milana Vayntrub) must try to keep the peace and uncover the truth behind a mysterious creature that has begun terrorizing the community in WEREWOLVES WITHIN.

This “wild and hilarious film adaptation of Ubisoft’s genius original game concept” is directed by Josh Ruben, who wrote, helmed, and starred in 2020’s Scare Me, his debut feature. Ruben sat down with contributor Deirdre Crimmins to discuss the follow-up, what scares him, and the pop cultural touchstones that he drew upon as inspiration for WEREWOLVES WITHIN.

IFC Films will release the horror-comedy whodunit WEREWOLVES WITHIN in theaters on June 25, 2021 and on Digital Rental & VOD on July 2, 2021.
