“DEVIL DOG: THE HOUND OF HELL” is barking on a new Blu-ray this summer; details & art

The cult 1978 TV movie is getting a new hi-def showcase.

Media Blasters will release a Special Purebred Edition Blu-ray (as well as a DVD) of DEVIL DOG: THE HOUND OF HELL June 8. Directed by Curtis Harrington (NIGHT TIDE, RUBY) from a teleplay by Stefan and Elinor Karpf, it stars Richard Crenna, Yvette Mimieux, the WITCH MOUNTAIN kids Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann and genre veterans Martine Beswicke and R.G. Armstrong. The synopsis: “Dad and Mom decide to buy their kids a new puppy dog to replace their recently deceased pet. But unbeknownst to them, the hound is actually a demon from hell! Before she mysteriously dies, their maid suspects that the pup is possessed as the wife and the kids start to practice strange occult rituals. When Dad discovers that the dog is a demonic entity that steals the souls of his family, he travels to Ecuador and learns how to exorcise the canine. It’s man vs. man’s best fiend in an unforgettable fiery finale!”
