Philadelphia fans: “FRANKENSTEIN’S BLOODY TERROR” returns to the big screen in 3D on Saturday

Back in 1968, Paul Naschy introduced his now-legendary, lycanthropic Waldemar Daninsky character in LA MARCA DEL HOMBRE LOBO (MARK OF THE WOLFMAN) and shot it in 3D. Nearly 50 years later, a dimensional version of the American cut, entitled FRANKENSTEIN’S BLOODY TERROR, makes its Philadelphia premiere this weekend, courtesy of Exhumed Films.

The restored 3D TERROR will play this Saturday, December 9 at 8 p.m. in the Lightbox Film Center at International House (3701 Chestnut Street), on a double bill with Al Adamson’s DRACULA VS. FRANKENSTEIN. Both movies were released by Sam Sherman’s Independent-International, and Sherman will be on hand to introduce TERROR. This version of the movie features a prologue added to tie Naschy’s werewolf to the Frankenstein legend, and was only given very limited 3D release in a few Los Angeles theaters back in the early ’70s. This new 35mm print, struck by Garagehouse Pictures (run by Exhumed’s Harry Guerro), is the first stereoscopic edition of TERROR to play big screens in over 40 years.

Tickets are $15 for the general public and $10 for International House/Lightbox members, and can be ordered here; you can find more info at Exhumed Films’ official website. Before the show, you can pick up a copy of Garagehouse’s new Blu-ray TRAILER TRAUMA PART 4: TELEVISION TRAUMA. The latest in the label’s series of coming-attractions collections contains over three hours of TV spots (268 in all) for horror and exploitation film favorites, and comes with audio commentary by—full disclosure—myself, PAPERBACKS FROM HELL author Grady Hendrix and Temple of Schlock’s Chris Poggiali. You can also order the disc on-line at DiabolikDVD, and see Garagehouse’s Facebook page here.
