For physical media lovers, Vinegar Syndrome releases are national holidays in and of themselves, so the big Black Friday Flash Pre-Order is reason enough to celebrate. For those who want extra time to sleep off their turkey, or dread contending with traffic on the label’s (increasingly more reliable, but you never know) website, this pre-order is a godsend – allowing fans to snatch up the whole lot of new releases two months before the big day!
The company has revealed its flagship title in their Vinegar Syndrome Ultra (VSU) line, the 1982 fantasy/action blockbuster, BEASTMASTER! Directed by Don Coscarelli (Phantasm), BEASTMASTER will come as a double-disc UHD/Blu-ray release, presented in a brand new 4K restoration, featuring an exclusive, multi-part, feature-length making-of documentary, 40 page bound book, and a stunning new case designed by Earl Kess.
Next on offer is Vernon Zimmerman’s underrated cinephile slasher, FADE TO BLACK, which is making its world Blu-ray premiere newly restored in 4K from long believed lost pre-print elements. Along with this, fans will also want to grab Vinegar Syndrome’s second Giallo collection, featuring a trio of never on Blu and long out-of-print on DVD Italian thrillers. The box includes FRENCH SEX MURDERS, MY DEAR KILLER, and THE GIRL IN ROOM 2A, all restored from their original camera negatives. Art for FADE TO BLACK and the Giallo set are pending, but they’re sure to be as eye-catching as anything else Vinegar Syndrome and Earl Kessler whip up.
Lastly, pre-order is available now for two Black Friday surprise titles. Details are scant, but these titles rarely disappoint fans of shock cinema. Wait until the big Black Friday reveal at your peril: these things (whatever they are) will go fast!
