Glass Eye Pix’s forest stalkathon THE RANGER premieres tonight as a Midnighters feature at SXSW, and a cool new teaser trailer has been unleashed for the movie. Check it out past the jump!
Glass Eye producer Jenn Wexler (MOST BEAUTIFUL ISLAND, DARLING, etc.) makes her directorial debut on THE RANGER, which has its debut SXSW screening tonight at Austin, TX’s Alamo Drafthouse Ritz at 11:55 p.m.; see the movie’s festival page here. Wexler scripted the film with Giaco Furino, and it stars Chloe Levine (THE TRANSFIGURATION), Granit Lahu, Jeremy Pope, Bubba Weiler, Amanda Grace Benitez, Jeremy Holm and Glass Eye topper Larry Fessenden, with makeup effects by Brian Spears. The synopsis: “When Chelsea [Levine] and her friends get in trouble with the cops, they flee the city and go on the run. Fueled by a hallucinogenic drug called Echo, they hope to lay low—and get high—in an old family hideout in the woods. But Chelsea’s got reservations about going back to nature and secrets she’s not sharing with her friends. When a shot rings out, her past comes crashing back, and the punks find themselves pitted against the local authority—an unhinged park ranger with an axe to grind.”
