Silver Scream Con, Massachusetts’ premier horror fan event, returns September 13 through 15 for a third terrifying year. Since all “three-quels” demand bigger scares, the convention is moving from its previous digs in Danvers to the DCU Center in Worcester, a larger venue worthy of its monster-sized guest list.

“Logistically, the DCU Center gives us the opportunity to house more guests, to house more vendors, to have a bigger room for the panels,” explains Spencer Charnas, the inspiration for Silver Scream Con and frontman of the chart-topping horror/metal band Ice Nine Kills, adding, “It’s almost like we’re taking over the town when we do it in Worcester because there are hotels all around the DCU. You have venues there, great restaurants, and it’s going to be like our own mini ‘Sundance of the Dead.’”
Silver Scream Con III promises to be a FRIDAY THE 13TH fan’s nightmare come true
Silver Scream Con III will feature a who’s who of genre giants, including Scream star David Arquette and Massachusetts’ frightening favorite son, filmmaker Eli Roth (making his very first home-state horror con appearance). Friday the 13th fans will definitely be happy campers at this year’s event. Sean S. Cunningham, producer, co-creator and director of the 1980 original will be in attendance along with first Jason, Ari Lehman; Friday the 13th Part 2‘s Warrington Gillette; and Derek Mears from 2009’s reboot. It’s all treats and no tricks for Halloween devotees, too, as original cast members Nick Castle (The Shape), PJ Soles (Lynda), and John Michael Graham (Bob) will be appearing along with franchise stars James Jude Courtney and Danielle Harris.
With Terrifier 3 slashing its way to theaters in October, Silver Scream Con celebrates the carnage with franchise creator Damien Leone and Art the Clown himself, David Howard Thornton. Some of the genre’s greatest femme fatales will also descend on the DCU Center, including Bonnie Aarons, the Nun from The Conjuring universe; Shawnee Smith (Saw I–IV); and ‘80s scream queen Linnea Quigley (The Return of the Living Dead). The con will also be the site of a Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 mini-reunion with Bill Moseley (Chop Top) and Bob Elmore (one of the film’s two Leatherfaces) dropping by. And this is just the tip of the bloody iceberg. Ice Nine Kills performs live in concert at the Palladium Outdoors in Worcester with special guests In This Moment, Avatar and TX2 on Saturday, September 14. And this is just the tip of the bloody iceberg!
