Also coming: a new thriller from Neil LaBute and a flick that sounds like CRAWL IN JAIL.

The first photo from SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL has been released (above), with the word that the movie will hit select theaters and VOD/digital platforms July 28 from RLJE Films. Nicolas Cage and Joel Kinnaman star for director Yuval Adler, with a script by Luke Paradise. The synopsis: “After being forced to drive a mysterious passenger at gunpoint, a man finds himself in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse where it becomes clear that not everything is at it seems.”

Meanwhile, HOLLYWOOD DREAMS & NIGHTMARES: THE ROBERT ENGLUND STORY, which we first told you about here, has been given a Screambox/digital release date of June 6 by Cinedigm. Directed by Gary Smart and Christopher Griffiths and written by Smart and Neil Morris, it features appearances by Englund and his wife Nancy, Eli Roth, Adam Green, Tony Todd, Lance Henriksen, Heather Langenkamp, Lin Shaye, Bill Moseley, Doug Bradley and Kane Hodder. The synopsis: “A classically trained actor and director, Robert Englund has become one of the most revolutionary horror icons of our generation. Throughout his career, Englund starred in many well-known movies, but shot to super-stardom with his portrayal of supernatural serial killer Freddy Krueger in the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET franchise. This unique and intimate portrait captures the man behind the glove.”

Coming to theaters, VOD and digital July 14 is Saban Films’ THE FLOOD, directed by Brandon Slagle from a script by Chad Law and Josh Ridgway. Casper Van Dien, Nicky Whelan and Louis Mandylor star; the synopsis: “After a massive hurricane floods Louisiana, it unleashes a threat even deadlier than the rising water level: a relentless horde of giant hungry alligators. When a group of in-transit prisoners and their security guards seek shelter in a local prison, they become prey for the flesh-eating attackers. To survive, the prisoners and guards must fight together, in this action-thriller packed with slithery scares and jaw-clenching suspense.”

FEAR THE NIGHT, written and directed by LaBute (HOUSE OF DARKNESS, THE WICKER MAN), will arrive in theaters July 21 from Quiver Distribution. The cast is headed by Maggie Q, Kat Foster, Travis Hammer and Gia Crovatin; the synopsis: “Eight women attend a bachelorette party at a remote farmhouse in the California hills. They are interrupted by the arrival of masked intruders who surround the place and begin shooting arrows at the home and the guests. One partygoer–Tess, a military veteran who is fighting her addictions and her difficulty at fitting in with other people–leads the women in making a stand against the attackers as they fight back in an effort to save themselves over the course of a single dark night.”
