Just in time for spooky season, Los Angeles-based artists Light Widening and Whatever Heaven are set to unleash their collaborative album, “A Halloween Album II,” on October 25th via Anxiety Blanket Records. This 13-track offering is the highly anticipated sequel to Light Widening’s 2017 release, “A Halloween Album,” promising a chilling blend of gothic folk horror and synth-heavy soundscapes.

Owen Nelson (Light Widening) and Jeremy Leasure (Whatever Heaven) drew inspiration from their shared love of 1980s horror films and iconic soundtracks, channeling the likes of John Carpenter, Tangerine Dream, and Angelo Badalamenti. The result is a unique and captivating album that seamlessly merges pop sensibilities with experimental elements, featuring Emily Monnig on lead and backup vocals.

The lyrics delve into classic horror tropes like ghosts, zombies, serial killers, and werewolves, while also exploring themes of new-age mysticism and the occult. The double-single “Outpost / Magic Squares” offers a taste of the album’s eerie atmosphere:

  • “Outpost” takes listeners on a post-apocalyptic zombie adventure inspired by the Italian horror film “Demons,” exploring themes of survival and unexpected heroism.
  • “Magic Squares” delves into hidden knowledge and the subconscious, drawing inspiration from ancient magic squares and secret societies.

“A Halloween Album II” promises a thrilling and evocative listening experience, perfect for setting the mood this Halloween season. Get ready to be absorbed into the strange and uncanny universe of each song.

Don’t miss the album’s release on October 25th. Check out the double-single “Outpost / Magic Squares” now, available wherever you stream music.
