In what’s become a late spring tradition for horror fans in the southeast U.S., the annual FRANKENCON horror convention, presented by Orbit DVD, returns to Alcoa, TN, on May 9th and 10th! RUE MORGUE will be on site at this year’s event at the Hilton Knoxville Airport with copies of “the best damn magazine in the genre,” spanning decades of excellence in journalism covering all facets of Horror in Culture and Entertainment.

Fans can delight in fright with meet-and-greets, photo ops and other special events with a guest roster encapsulating genre icons across film and literature, including:

  • Legendary horror host JOE BOB BRIGGS and DARCY THE MAIL GIRL, returning to FRANKENCON for the first time in four years!
  • Clown in a Cornfield author ADAM CESARE, who’ll also be featured in a story writing panel
  • A CUJO reunion with the beloved DEE WALLACE and child star DANNY PINTAURO
  • Chopping Mall alum KELLI MARONEY
  • Pumpkinhead and Society star (and FRANKENCON’s favorite son) BRIAN BREMER
  • And many more!

FRANKENCON’s organizers are as big horror fans as any, a notion that shines through in the event’s in-scene photo ops which attract throngs of attendees year after year. And collectors on the hunt for wicked wares to fill their shelves and cover their walls can enjoy a showroom packed with vendors of the macabre.

Visit FRANKENCON’s site for more information, and be sure to order your tickets and make plans to hang out with the RUE crew and all of your favorite celebs!

Ever since watching CREEPSHOW as a child, Kevin Hoover has spent a lifetime addicted to horror (and terrified of cockroaches). He wholeheartedly believes in the concept of reanimating the dead if only we’d give it the old college try, and thinks FRIDAY THE 13th PART V is the best in the franchise. Aside from writing “Cryptid Cinema Chronicles” for Rue Morgue, he’s been a working copywriter for over a decade and you’ve probably bought something with his words on it. He also believes even the worst movie can be improved with buckets of gore.
