Ministry are marching toward the end times — theirs, at least — with a suitably apocalyptic new single. The band has released the official music video for “Singularity,” the latest cut from their upcoming (and reportedly final) album, Hate to Go (Take Out or Delivery), due out October 30 via Cleopatra Records.
True to form, the track is voiced from the perspective of a cyborg delivering humanity’s eviction notice: “Your time on this planet has passed … we are in control.” The video runs with that premise to its logical, mechanized extreme, staging a robotic uprising that plays less like science fiction and more like a headline ripped from this year’s AI news cycle. It’s Ministry doing what Ministry has always done best: filtering real-world anxiety through distorted guitars, industrial clang, and Al Jourgensen’s snarling contempt for whatever’s coming next.
The clip was directed by Ben Garcia of Rage4Order Designs, working alongside Jourgensen and Joshua Bradford (formerly of Revolting Cocks), and follows “Singularity” into the singles “Burned Out” and “We Hate” that have been rolling out ahead of the record.
Hate to Go (Take Out or Delivery) is being billed as Ministry’s swan song after a 45-year run that stretches back to their 1983 debut. Jourgensen has made his peace with closing the book, telling press bluntly: “I’m fucking done. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished… It’s time to herd goats.” Coming from the man who’s spent decades soundtracking industrial collapse, it’s a fittingly unsentimental exit line.
