It’s a collection of scary stories from across the Latin American spectrum.
Deadline reports that Epic Pictures’ horror label Dread is teaming with Iconic Events to bring SATANIC HISPANICS to 800 theaters in the U.S., Canada and Mexico this September. The movie features terror tales helmed by Alejandro Brugués (JUAN OF THE DEAD), Gigi Saul Guerrero (CULTURE SHOCK, BINGO HELL), Mike Mendez (BIG ASS SPIDER!, THE CONVENT), Demián Rugna (TERRIFIED) and Eduardo Sanchez (THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, YELLOWJACKETS), who shared the Best Director award for the movie at last year’s Fantastic Fest. The segments, which incorporate various aspects of Latino folklore and culture, are tied together by a character called The Traveler (Efren Ramirez), the sole survivor of a police raid on an El Paso house who spins the stories.
“We are deeply grateful to have worked with such incredible talent on SATANIC HISPANICS,” says Epic Pictures/Dread CEO/owner Patrick Ewald, who produced the film with Brugués, Mendez and Katie Page. “With Iconic as our partner in the theatrical release, I can only hope that audiences will have as much fun watching the film as we did making it.”
“This movie is very special for us,” adds Brugues. “The first all-Latino horror anthology, made by some of the best horror directors representing us from all corners of Latin America, and focused on telling our stories. We couldn’t be happier having Iconic Events joining us in unleashing our Latino mayhem on you during Hispanic Heritage month.”
