The 2018 edition of Britain’s Fractured Visions Film Festival has set dates and is accepting submissions, with the goal of giving the best new independent horror a showcase. Read on for the details and an exclusive first look at the poster.
Headed by filmmaker Phil Escott (CRUEL SUMMER) and genre academic Dr. Mikel J. Koven, Fractured Visions takes place this year September 29-30 at the Tramshed Cinema in Cardiff. Eight new features (plus two classics) and 10 new short films will be presented, with a jury of filmmakers, distributors and sales agents presenting awards in multiple categories; the winning films will be offered world sales representation and U.S. distribution. Says Escott, “The main goal of the festival is to help filmmakers avoid the sharks that are circling the UK film industry. Having been through it myself and having experienced both the good and the bad that the industry offers new filmmakers, we’re trying to help as many filmmakers as we can avoid the pitfalls that await many newcomers to the industry—especially within the horror genre. We also want to bring the best of the genre to the big screen for fans to experience films that would otherwise be destined for DVD shelves or VOD release because they have not been backed by a studio.”
Artist Martin Walker created the poster seen below. The regular deadline for submissions to Fractured Visions is May 31, with a late deadline of July 31 and an extended deadline of August 10.
