Venture into “THE WOODS” as independent chiller gets distribution and a date; trailer & poster

See the forest for the screams later this month.

Terror Films Releasing has announced that it will release THE WOODS June 27 on multiple digital platforms, including Chilling, Scare Network TV, Kings of Horror, Shocks & Docs and others. Written and directed by Sarah Lyons, who also produced with Monica Arsenault, the movie (which we first told you about with exclusive photos here) was shot in upstate New York and stars Taylor Harris-Butler, Samantha Evans, Troy Tripicchio and Jakob Martinez Cooper. The synopsis: “The film follows an interview on a popular true crime podcast, where the lone survivor of a mysterious and tragic camping trip tells the story of a hike that resulted in the death of her best friends several years earlier.”

“We made this film at an interesting and difficult time in the film industry,” Lyons says, “a time where small artists and indie directors are finding it increasingly hard to make movies. I want people to enjoy THE WOODS, but I also want it to be a reminder that this is still an industry by and for artists. We made this film on a microbudget, a lot of hard work, and a dream. This movie is for the dreamers, and I hope it inspires people to make an indie horror film of their own.”
