RUE MORGUE and BOOKSHOP.ORG Partner for Horror Book Recommendations

Bookshop.org and RUE MORGUE have entered into an agreement that furthers each brand’s individual missions while working synergistically to increase the reach of horror literature and entertainment.

Beginning February 28th and around the first week of each month thereafter, Bookshop.org will email their subscribers a list of horror book recommendations through a special RUE MORGUE-branded newsletter. RUE MORGUE will publish a “New Release” book calendar on their website highlighting a selection of new books releasing over the coming month, with all recommendations linked for pre-order or purchase through Bookshop.org. While indie publishers and authors will continue to enjoy having their respective online presences represented in project-specific articles, Bookshop.org will become the preferred mass book retailer for RUE MORGUE.

Launched in 2020 as an avenue for independent bookstores to reach their customers at a time when in-person commerce was on hiatus due to the COVID-19 health pandemic, Bookshop.org donates a portion of every item sold back to booksellers. To date, the company has given back over $36 million to shops and recently introduced eBook sales through their platform. Embodying the spirit of indie publishing is RUE MORGUE. Launched by Rodrigo Gudiño in 1997, the brand has established itself as the authoritative voice in covering all aspects of Horror in Culture and Entertainment through its flagship bimonthly print magazine, website and biweekly email newsletter.

“At Bookshop.org, we believe local bookstores are essential community hubs that foster culture, curiosity and a love of reading, and we’re committed to helping them thrive,” states David Rose, Bookshop.org’s Chief Revenue Officer. “Every purchase on the site financially supports independent bookstores. We’re delighted to partner with RUE MORGUE to present horror selections to delight and terrify readers in equal measure while supporting local, independent bookselling.”

Adds Gudiño, “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Bookshop.org to bring much needed attention and support back to independent bookstores across the country … and scare your pants off in the process!”
