“SHAUN OF THE DEAD” and “NEW KIDS NITRO” vets team up on horror film “SVALTA”

Despite its creators’ horror/comedy backgrounds, this one is evidently played straight.

XYZ Films, Wayward Entertainment and Resolute Films have announced the completion of principal photography on their fright film SVALTA, which was shot in Tampere, Finland and has begun postproduction in the UK. Directed by Steffen Haars, part of the team behind the outrageous Dutch comedies NEW KIDS TURBO and the zombie-centric NEW KIDS NITRO, it was written by and stars SHAUN OF THE DEAD’s Nick Frost (pictured). The cast also includes Aisling Bea, Sebastian Croft and Maisie Ayres; the synopsis: “SVALTA follows a family on their summer vacation to a remote island where they discover a serial killer is on the loose. Unfortunately for them the locals have no interest in helping the stranded family. The title is taken from the name of the fictional island.” We’ll keep you posted as SVALTA travels toward its debut and release!
