Following premieres this month, it’ll be streaming for Christmas.
Shudder has announced its acquisition of United States, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand rights to SPLIT ROCK, the second feature from writer/director Ryan Glover (THE STRINGS). The movie world-premieres at Spain’s Sitges Film Festival tomorrow, October 9, than has its North American premiere Wednesday, October 21 at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival (a 35mm screening with cast and filmmakers), before debuting on Shudder December 25. Shot on 16mm, SPLIT ROCK stars Clark Backo, Drew Ray Tanner, Olivia Luccardi and Graham Verchere. The synopsis: “SPLIT ROCK follows geologists Lauren [Backo] and Ben [Tanner] as they investigate a strange anomaly discovered deep within the remote badlands. After unearthing an ancient force hidden in the hills, the couple and their team must face a series of ever-intensifying horrors.”
“I am very excited and thankful to be teaming up with Shudder again for the release of SPLIT ROCK, my bloodier, and far more ambitious second film,” says Glover. “Shudder is home to the most passionate genre audience in the world, and I can’t wait for them to unearth the horrors and tragedies of SPLIT ROCK later this year.”
“With SPLIT ROCK, Ryan Glover has delivered a meticulously crafted world of psychological tension and haunting performances from its intimate cast,” says Shudder’s Emily Gotto. “We can’t wait to share this unsettling tale with Shudder audiences.”
