Klaus Kinski in “NOSFERATU IN VENICE” and psycho sickie “A SCREAM IN THE STREETS” coming to Blu-ray from Severin

Joining Severin Films’ pair of hi-def Alex de la Iglesia announcements this morning is another couple of previously hard-to-find genre features.

Severin has announced March 30 release dates for its Blu-rays (with and without exclusive slipcases) of NOSFERATU IN VENICE (pictured), with Klaus Kinski reprising his role in Werner Herzog’s classic for an unofficial sequel, and A SCREAM IN THE STREETS, from notorious exploitationeer Harry Novak. NOSFERATU IN VENICE, which was helmed by five different directors–including Mario Caiano (NIGHTMARE CASTLE), Luigi Cozzi (CONTAMINATION), writer/producer Augusto Caminito and reportedly Kinski himself–also stars Donald Pleasance and Christopher Plummer and boasts a score by CHARIOTS OF FIRE Oscar-winner Vangelis. Scanned in 2K from the original negative and presented in 1.85:1 widescreen with Italian (English-subtitled) and English mono soundtracks, the movie will be accompanied by:

  • CREATION IS VIOLENT: ANECDOTES FROM KINSKI’S FINAL YEARS: Feature-length documentary
  • Additional cast and crew interviews
  • Trailer

A SCREAM IN THE STREETS, directed by Carl Monson (PLEASE DON’T EAT MY MOTHER!) and focusing on two detectives tracking a psychopathic transvestite through an especially sleazy Los Angeles, has also been scanned in 2K from the original negative. It will be presented in 1.85:1 and 1.33:1 versions, with English mono and these bonus features:

  • THE PEEPER: Two sexy shorts produced from A SCREAM IN THE STREETS outtakes
  • Trailer

Each disc retails for $34.95 and is available for pre-order for $24 at the Severin webstore; the slipcase versions can be pre-ordered for $30 each, and there are also DVD editions and NOSFERATU merch available.
