You’ll melt over how good the ’80s cult favorite looks in the new disc release.
Synapse Films is releasing a new two-disc UHD/Blu-ray set of STREET TRASH, the colorfully gory horror/comedy shot on the mean streets of New York by director Jim Muro and writer/producer Roy Frumkes. Currently available for pre-order at the Synapse Films website, as well as Orbit DVD and DiabolikDVD, it has an official street date of December 7 and will also be on sale at select Vinegar Syndrome brick-and-mortar store locations. Set in a wrecking yard inhabited by a bunch of bizarre, crazy characters and centering on the Tenafly Viper booze that makes its drinkers melt, the movie is presented in a new 4K remaster of the original 35mm camera negative, presented in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible), supervised and approved by director of photography David Sperling. The soundtracks are a lossless DTS-HD MA 5.1 Surround mix and the original DTS-HD MA 2.0 theatrical mono, and the packaging is a side-loading chipboard hardbox case designed by artist Wes Benscoter. Special features on the region-free discs are:
- Two audio commentaries featuring producer Roy Frumkes and director Jim Muro
- THE MELTDOWN MEMOIRS: Two-hour documentary on the history and making of STREET TRASH
- STREET TRASH: The original 16mm short film that inspired the movie
- Jane: Interview with star Jane Arakawa
- A conversation with writer/producer Roy Frumkes
