When not smashing buildings or being attacked by an onslaught of military forces, BEAST WRECK (Jared Moraitis) is busy at work making prints, buttons, stickers, custom toys and other original pieces for fans of horror movies, giant monsters, cartoons and pretty much everything you can think of coming from a misspent youth. He hit genius levels when his overractive imagination brought a fruit drink commercial from the 70s into the world of H.P. Lovecraft’s Old Ones to produce CTHUL-AID.
He has since put together another cultural abomination, this time in the form of the HAND MURDER HELPER lapel pin. The 2 X 2-inch enamel pin features the white glove Hamburger Helper mascot made up to look like Jason Voorhees, adorning mask straps inclusive. Fans will really enjoy that the artist clearly put so much time into his accessories but also into the little stories and descriptions; in the case of the Hand Murder Helper, it’s a little jingle that goes: “Hand murder Helper… helped her hands murder… help her make a great kill.”
Besides Moraitis, Beast Wreck also features the work of artist Belle Dee. Her pieces are a little cuter and tamer, except for the hilariously captioned “Free Mustache Rides” sticker and T-shirt, featuring a mustachioed Vlad Tepes. “In between impaling folks, Vlad Tepes likes to turn his attention to his second favorite hobby: mustache rides,” reads the description.
Anyone who has talent, a comedic mind, and a love of horror is all right in my books. Besides, where else can you get female Alien and Predator pin-up stickers? The newest piece that just recently came out a BUBBLASSKICK 2-inch pin, is a humorous homage to Rowdy Roddy Piper’s John Nada from John Carpenter’s THEY LIVE!
