Human and supernatural evil to chill you in “ROJO” and “MIDDAY DEMONS”; trailer and posters

Distributor 1844 Entertainment has a pair of international fear features out this month: the acclaimed Spanish film ROJO and the Italian/Irish supernatural story MIDDAY DEMONS (pictured) from Ireland. Read on for the details, ROJO trailer and posters for both.

1844 released ROJO yesterday on digital platforms, and has MIDDAY DEMONS on tap for November 12. ROJO, which won strong praise from its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, was written and directed by Benjamín Naishtat and stars Dario Grandinetti, Andrea Frigerio, Alfredo Castro and Laura Grandinetti. According to the official synopsis, the movie “is set in the mid-’70s and follows a strange man’s arrival in a quiet provincial city. In a restaurant, without any apparent reason, he starts insulting a renowned lawyer. The community supports the lawyer and the stranger is humiliated and thrown out. Later that night, the stranger, determined to wreak a terrible vengeance, intercepts the lawyer and his wife—forcing his victims to take a path of no return…involving death, secrets, and silence.”

MIDDAY DEMONS, from first-time writer/director Rossella De Venuto, stars Fiona Glascott, Pietro Ragusa, Marcello Prayer, Federico Castelluccio, Salvatore Lazzaro, Bianca Nappi and Ray Lovelock (THE LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE). The official synopsis relates that it “tells the story of Megan, a successful Irish artist living in Dublin with her husband, an Italian architect. After receiving news that her husband’s uncle has died, the couple travels to Apulia, in southern Italy, to handle Leo’s unexpected inheritance: the family’s ancient palace. Left alone at home during the hottest hours of the summer afternoon, Megan is disturbed by mysterious presences. While trying to understand what’s happening, Megan begins to find clues scattered throughout the palace, unraveling an unsolved mystery linked to her husband’s family.”
