Satan holds sway over Canadian movie theaters this month with the release of BURY THE DEVIL, the terrifying new possession horror film from director Adam O’Brien (Mom, The Devil’s Grave). Constructed as a single shot (in much the same style as Alfred Hitchcock’s 1948 mystery thriller Rope), the devilish frights take place in real time.
Distributor Black Fawn just shared exclusive variant poster art and a previously unreleased still from BURY THE DEVIL with RUE MORGUE. If you’rethe kind of horror fan who demands the red stuff, they deliver it by the bucket.
According to a Black Fawn rep, the final poster had to be “toned down” for release. See the original, bloody version below.

BURY THE DEVIL stars Emmanuelle Lussier Martinez as Julia, a hospice nurse whose elderly dementia patient’s strange behavior portends a night of unrelenting supernatural terror. Trapped in an old house with a demonic presence, Julia must survive the night or lose her soul.
“BURY THE DEVIL is a real-time possession film that’s told in a continuous shot,” director Adam O’Brien explains, adding, “We were able to throw both the characters and the audience into inescapable tension with little room to breathe. The terror unfolds in real-time, exactly as it would if you were standing there yourself.”

O’Brien also promises the film is an SFX feast that’s sure to satisfy fans of old-school horror.
“We really tried to utilize practical effects as much as possible with many of them shot in-camera,” her says. “That includes the use of a life-size puppet, which was hard to pull off, but so satisfying when we did. We had an absolute blast making this movie, and I’m thrilled to present the film in theatres alongside the team at Black Fawn Distribution. Get ready for a loud, roller-coaster ride on the big screen.”
