“YOKAI CROSSING” Is A Love Letter to J-Horror

Japanese Horror and video games have long shared a symbiotic relationship of ongoing mutual inspiration. An upcoming game from indie developer/publisher Jotaz Lorraine brings this phenomenon full circle. Next stop: YOKAI CROSSING.

A narrative-driven first-person investigation game and “a love letter to J-Horror,” YOKAI CROSSING, now available in demo, places you in the role of Ryo, one of three students with a shared interest in paranormal studies. Equipped with a camera of their own invention, capable of recording the spirit world that exists parallel to our own, they investigate an old house that was the site of an unexplainable child abduction years ago. As you explore the premises, you discover clues to solve the mystery in the spooky imagery the camera captures. But there are other things in the house that don’t want to be found – Yokai, the timeless supernatural forces that wait on the other side of the veil…

YOKAI CROSSING blends the mechanics of survival horror with puzzles, detection and good ol’ running for your life from some very unsettling beings. Japanese folklore is one of the most varied pantheons of creatures, ghosts and demons in the world, and the YOKAI CROSSING demo only teases what could be waiting. This is one to keep an eye on.

YOKAI CROSSING’s release date is pending. It’s now available for wishlisting on Steam
