The original TRAIN TO BUSAN is also getting a rerelease later this month.

Well Go USA has announced that the much-awaited TRAIN TO BUSAN PRESENTS: PENINSULA, writer/director Yeon Sang-ho’s sequel to his 2016 zombie-epic smash, will debut in North American theaters August 7. Beyond that, Shudder has grabbed exclusive North American streaming rights to PENINSULA, and will premiere it early next year. Gang Dong-won, Lee Jung-hyun, Lee Re, Kwon Hae-hyo, Kim Min-jae and Koo Kyo-hwan star in PENINSULA; the synopsis: “Four years after South Korea’s total decimation in TRAIN TO BUSAN, the zombie thriller that captivated audiences worldwide, acclaimed director Yeon Sang-ho brings us PENINSULA, the next nail-biting chapter in his postapocalyptic world. Jung-seok [Gang], a soldier who previously escaped the diseased wasteland, relives the horror when assigned to a covert operation with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive. When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best—or worst—of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances.”

In addition, Well Go will bring the original TRAIN TO BUSAN back to theaters across America later in July, bearing an exclusive first look at PENINSULA. “When we acquired TRAIN TO BUSAN back in 2016, we never imagined its success would extend beyond the genre subculture,” says Well Go CEO Doris Pfardrescher. “Now, four years later, we have director Yeon’s highly anticipated next chapter PENINSULA poised to break out and achieve a level of U.S. success rarely seen with a foreign film.”

“PENINSULA is one of the most anticipated horror movie sequels of the last decade,” says Shudder’s Craig Engler, “and exactly the kind of film Shudder members are hungry for. Yeon Sang-ho set the bar for zombie movies with TRAIN TO BUSAN and its prequel SEOUL STATION, and we’re thrilled to be the home of his new masterpiece—and the only place where movie lovers will be able to stream this outstanding trilogy together.” You can read our exclusive interview with Yeon on PENINSULA in RUE MORGUE #195, now on sale and available to purchase on-line here.
