The ability to talk to the dead may seem like a good idea when you’re grieving, but it has its perils, as seen in IFC Midnight’s OUR HOUSE. Jump past the jump to see the new trailer and poster.

OUR HOUSE opens in select theaters and debuts on VOD and digital platforms July 27, and has its world premiere July 22 at Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival next month. A remake of Matt Osterman’s GHOST FROM THE MACHINE (a.k.a. PHASMA EX MACHINA), it was directed by Anthony Scott Burns (HOLIDAYS) from a script by Nathan Parker. Thomas Mann, Percy Hynes White, Kate Moyer and Nicola Peltz star; the synopsis: “A machine that can bring back dead loved ones seems like a great idea…until you unleash the wrong spirits. When his parents are killed in a car accident, science wiz Ethan [Mann] must leave behind college and his girlfriend [Peltz] to care for his younger brother and sister [White and Moyer]. By day, he juggles the responsibilities of raising two kids; by night, he tinkers in the garage on an invention he hopes will change the world: a machine that can generate wireless electricity. He gets more than he bargained for, however, when the device awakens the dead souls that haunt the house. As Ethan and his siblings attempt to make contact with their parents, a horrifying realization sets in: not all the spirits in their midst may be friendly.”
