NEWS: NATURE IS ONE MEAN MUTHA IN “SOLITUDE”

There’s good reason why reality gameshows keep plucking contestants out of their creature-comforted lives of modern civility and dumping them into the great wide open: mother nature can be scary AF. The isolation; the scarcity of necessities; the lack of indoor plumbing … such challenges are usually only made palatable by the promise of celebrity or a big cash prize. In the case of SOLITUDE, toss in the threat of a supernatural entity and Survivor takes on a whole new meaning.

SOLITUDE is the latest collaboration from Jeremy Brown – director of the popular Friday the 13th Vengeance fan film, and Mick Strawn – production designer on genre favorites A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and 4 and action films Blade and Mortal Kombat. The co-director’s exploration of a wilderness-themed gameshow whose contestants are plagued by a terror perhaps only perceived is scored by legendary composer Harry Manfredini.

From the press release:

From the mind of Jeremy Brown comes SOLITUDE. Follow the harrowing journey of Kara Chase, a social media influencer, as she ventures into the wilderness for a survival competition akin to the History Channel’s Alone. However, her solitary experience takes a terrifying turn when she believes she’s not alone, and a malevolent presence lurks in the desolate landscape. Battling the elements and her own fears, Kara must confront this supernatural force to survive.

SOLITUDE stars Sam Wren Vincent (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux), as well as the on-screen film debut of Larry Roberts and Dr. Nicole Apelian, real-world contestants on the hit History Channel series Alone.

While the film’s official premiere is currently booked for September 21st at the Byrd Theater in Richmond, VA – with potential streaming details all but certain to follow – horror convention attendees can catch SOLITUDE at various events screening the film across the country, where it often picks up best-in-show awards.

For more information on SOLITUDE, visit the film’s website.
