A new masked villain is coming to claim victims this fall.
The poster (designed by Andrew Kern) has been unveiled for THE BOY FROM BELOW, which we previously told you about (with exclusive effects test footage) here. Directed by Tory Jones and written by Jones and Jerron Spencer, based on the title character from Jones’ previous THE WICKED ONE, it stars Spencer Madison, Kamarra Cole, Cameryn Zupon, Douglas Vermeeren, Dee Wallace, Felissa Rose, Leah Voysey, Chaney Morrow, Richie Ramone, Tommy Lee Wallace and Jack Norman as the movie’s maniac. The synopsis: “The sleepy New England town of Carpenter Falls is known for being the hometown of silver screen legend Marilyn Leigh Miller. As Halloween season arrives, an obsessed psychopath looks to pay tribute to the late B-movie scream queen by living out his own horror movie fantasies. Caught in the madness is local video store clerk Quinn Curtis and her gang of movie-loving friends, whose knowledge of the genre may be their key to survival.”
“I had the chance to hang out on set during filming, and it was a blast,” P.J. Starks, one of the film’s producers (pictured above with Jones and the costumed Norman), tells RUE MORGUE. “Spooky and Leah share a strong onscreen chemistry, both delivering standout performances. I was lucky enough to be there while Dee Wallace was filming–she was incredibly cool. I grew up on a steady diet of THE HOWLING and CRITTERS, so seeing a horror icon like Dee work in real time was a surreal treat. Between Jack Norman’s chilling portrayal of a sadistic masked killer and Cody Ruch’s top-tier splatter effects, I think slasher fans are in for a wild, terrifying ride.”
“This film pays tribute to the ’90s and the era of the video store I was lucky enough to grow up in,” Jones says. “That time was so informative to my love of the genre. I spent most of my time visiting the mom and pop video stores, being completely mesmerized by the artwork of the VHS tapes on the shelves. It was a different time for horror movie lovers, and unfortunately a time we probably won’t see again. I’ve made a slew of low-budget indie films, but I would say to make a film that is so personal to me with a real budget, an incredible team, and horror legends I grew up watching is a dream come true. I can’t wait to unleash THE BOY FROM BELOW onto the world.”
