The franchise’s perennial protagonist has nixed another return to Woodsboro.

Variety reports that Neve Campbell won’t be taking part in SCREAM 6, following her return to the franchise in this year’s hit SCREAM reboot. “Sadly, I won’t be making the next SCREAM film,” Campbell told the trade in a statement. “As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to SCREAM. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise. It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my SCREAM fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years.”

SCREAM 6 is set to open March 31, 2023 from Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media, with directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, scripters James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick and creator/executive producer Kevin Williamson back on board from the previous installment. Returning cast members from that movie are Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding, along with series stalwart Courteney Cox and Hayden Panettiere, reprising her SCREAM 4 role of Kirby Reed. Shooting is set to begin today in Montreal.
