The new interpretation of the modern vampire classic begins rolling early next year.
Variety reports that LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, which previously got a pilot order from Showtime, now has a full order for a 10-episode series. Set in New York City, this latest adaptation of John Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel stars Madison Taylor Baez as Eleanor, who was transformed into a vampire 10 years before when she was 12 and is fated to remain that age forever. Her father Mark (Demián Bichir) shelters her and also provides her with the human blood she needs to survive. The cast also includes Anika Noni Rose, Grace Gummer, Kevin Carroll, Ian Foreman and Jacob Buster. The pilot was directed by Seith Mann (THE WALKING DEAD, HOMELAND), who will helm additional episodes, and written by Andrew Hinderaker (PENNY DREADFUL), who serves as showrunner.
Lindqvist’s novel was previously adapted by director Tomas Alfredson for a 2008 Swedish film (pictured above) that was hailed as a contemporary vampire masterpiece. It was then transformed into a 2010 American feature helmed by Matt Reeves that won positive response from critics and fans. A previous potential series adaptation at TNT never got past a pilot order.
