Two of the year’s more anticipated genre titles now have release berths this summer.
IFC Midnight and Shudder have set SHE WILL (pictured), directed by Charlotte Colbert from a script she wrote with Kitty Percy and presented by Dario Argento, for July 15 in select theaters and on digital platforms/VOD. Alice Krige (GRETEL & HANSEL, SLEEPWALKERS), Malcolm McDowell (CAT PEOPLE), Kota Eberhardt, Rupert Everett (CEMETERY MAN), Amy Manson and Jonathan Aris star; the synopsis: “An aging film star retreats to the Scottish countryside with her nurse to recover from surgery. While there, mysterious forces of revenge emerge from the land where witches were burned.”
Then on August 5, IFC Films brings writer/director Andrew Semans’ psychothriller RESURRECTION to select theaters, digital platforms and VOD. THE NIGHT HOUSE’s Rebecca Hall, who won raves for her performance earlier this year at Sundance, stars with Tim Roth, Grace Kaufman and Michael Esper. The synopsis: “Margaret [Hall] leads a successful and orderly life, perfectly balancing the demands of her busy career and single parenthood to her fiercely independent daughter Abbie [Kaufman]. Everything is under control. But that careful balance is upended when an unwelcome shadow from her pas, David [Roth], returns, carrying with him the horrors of Margaret’s past. Battling her rising fear, Margaret must confront the monster she’s evaded for two years who has come to conclude their unfinished business.”
