Exclusive: Troma sneak-previews “#SHAKESPEARESSHITSTORM” in NYC the night before Halloween

Lloyd Kaufman and the gang will be giving New Yorkers their first look at the latest Tromasterpiece as part of a #BREAKINGBARD double feature.

RUE MORGUE got the heads-up that #SHAKESPEARESSHITSTORM will be the closing-night attraction of this month’s Tromaween horror series on Friday, October 30, paired with the James Gunn-scripted TROMEO AND JULIET. Like the rest of Tromaween, the double feature will be shown at the Bel Aire Diner (31-91 21st St, Queens, NY). “#SHAKESPEARESSHITSTORM was filmed in Queens over the summer of 2018, and the Bel Aire Diner acted as caterer as well as late-night home base to the Troma Team,” says Kaufman, who directed and stars in the film, “so it was only fitting that we return to present a sneak preview for Tromaween! We’re honored to be presenting our finest work with the finest diner and drive-in in all of NYC!”

Also partially filmed in Albania, #SHAKESPEARESSHITSTORM is the Troma Team’s take on THE TEMPEST, scripted by Brandon Bassham: “Prospero [Kaufman], a brilliant and generous pharma-scientist, has had his life and career ruined by blind, greedy, perverted pharmaceutical execs, causing him and his very hot daughter Miranda [Kate McGarrigle] to flee from NYC to Tromaville, New Jersey. When the evil execs and their elite guests take a celebratory luxury cruise to North Korea, Prospero uses his science, magic, and a load of whale laxative to create the titular Shitstorm, wrecking the cruise ship and causing its execs to wash up on the shores of Tromaville. Prospero’s planned a brutal revenge–with all the sex, mutations, musical numbers, and violence that Shakespeare always wanted but never had!” The cast also includes Erin Patrick Miller, Debbie Rochon, Abraham Sparrow, Zac Amico, Amanda Flowers, Dylan Mars Greenberg and Zoe Geltman; Justin Martell, John Brennan and Troma’s first lady Pat Kaufman produced, with Doug Sakmann co-producing and supervising the special effects along with Eric Fox and MorbFX, who handled the creature creations.

Tromaween will be showing other Troma favorites including CANNIBAL: THE MUSICAL, DEF BY TEMPTATION and POULTRYGEIST this month, and is hosting a #MUTANTSFORHUNGER canned food drive for the homeless at the Bel Aire Diner.
