The preview doubles as a pretty cool trailer for the film as well.
We previously told you here about Brian and Laurence Avenet-Bradley’s upcoming sci-fi/horror film PROTOS, which is now known as THE PROTOS EXPERIMENT and has a tie-in book coming October 8 from Darkness Visible. It was written by Simon Clark, the British author who also co-scripted the movie and is known for his more than 40 novels including THE NIGHT OF THE TRIFFIDS, VAMPYRRHIC and the BLOOD CRAZY series. The synopsis: “Kyra wakes in a mysterious, dungeon-like vault… Kyra is not alone. She is chained to a wooden structure, and she is utterly vulnerable in the presence of a nightmarish, prowling figure that is getting ever closer to her. Kyra discovers she has other companions. They appear to be captives, too, but how far can she trust them? Because soon, she will be plunged into a terrifying and dangerous struggle to save her own life. Somehow, she must evade the Protos…and then escape their cruel master.”
“What an extraordinary privilege and experience it was to write the novel of THE PROTOS EXPERIMENT,” Clark tells RUE MORGUE. “It was a groundbreaking first for me to draw on both the screenplay and the movie as I wrote the book. It was challenging, yet immensely satisfying to write a scene that I’d watched just moments ago in the movie, then getting inside the characters’ minds to describe their experience, and their terror, and their feelings of danger. All in all, I did my utmost to create a sensory experience within the written page that will complement the excitement and drama of THE PROTOS EXPERIMENT the movie. I sincerely hope–and believe!–that readers who enjoyed my novels BLOOD CRAZY, VAMPYRRHIC and DARKNESS DEMANDS will enjoy the PROTOS EXPERIMENT novel.”
The book will be available in paperback and on Kindle; head over to the Darkness Visible website to pre-order the Kindle, with the print version available for pre-order soon. Signed copies of the paperback will be available from the publisher shortly after publication. There will also be a launch event at the UK’s Fantasycon, which takes place October 11-13 at the Queen at Chester Hotel, Chester.
