It’s independent writer/director Chad Ferrin’s sequel to his previous, similarly themed THE DEEP ONES.
Ferrin got in touch with the first word and pics from THE OLD ONES, on which he recently wrapped principal photography. The cast, including a number of names from Ferrin’s previous pictures, is headed by Robert Miano, Kelli Maroney, Timothy Muskatell, Jerry Irons, Cyril O’Reilly, Brandon Kirk, Jon Budinoff, Kurt Bonzell, Elli Rahn, Silvia Spross, Elina Madison, Roger Garcia, Scott Vogel, Rico E. Anderson, John Kahen, Paul Blyumkin and introducing Benjamin Philip; Joe Castro created the makeup effects. The synopsis: “In 1930, sea captain Russel Marsh saw the light, and for 93 years his body was not his own. Inhabited by a Great Old One, he committed unspeakable acts in the name of the Esoteric Order of Dagon. Now free, he is in search of a way to go back in time to reverse the horrors wrought upon the world. But the cult has other plans, and will stop at nothing to destroy him.”
Ferrin calls THE OLD ONES “the best shoot of my career. If I die tomorrow, this is the one I want to be remembered for, and it’s all due to the talented cast and crew that made every moment exceptional.”
Ferrin further reveals that his serial-murder opus film THE PIG KILLER (which we previously reported on here) has been picked up by Breaking Glass Pictures with theatrical release targeted for September. And he’s finishing up postproduction on SCALPER: NIGHT CALLER II (see coverage here), which he’ll begin submitting to festivals in April. “No rest for the wicked!” he says.
I was really disappointed with the deep ones, but I’d check this out to see if it’s any better.
Dude this is an awesome website I just stumbled upon like 10 minutes ago. I used to be a huge fan of fangoria in the 90s as a pre teen and teenager when magazines were super popular. We had this amazing magazine area in a mall here in Bellevue, Wa in the 90s where we use to just spend hours on the weekends just reading Wizard and Fangoria then go next door and get Blockbuster. Mannnnn those were the times. I’m liking this site though
