“Suffering is love,” says one of the characters in the religious frightfest, and Sydney Sweeney gets quite a bit of love in this excerpt.
IMMACULATE, opening today from Neon, stars Sweeney along with Álvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaro, Giorgio Colangeli, Dora Romano, Giulia Heathfield Di Renzi and Simona Tabasco. Michael Mohan directed from a screenplay by Andrew Lobel; the synopsis: “Cecilia, an American nun of devout faith, embarks on a new journey in a remote convent in the picturesque Italian countryside. Cecilia’s warm welcome quickly devolves into a nightmare as it becomes clear her new home harbors a sinister secret and unspeakable horrors.”
