CREATORVC’s THE THING EXPANDED, the definitive documentary chronicling the making of John Carpenter‘s 1982 sci-fi horror masterpiece, is slated to arrive on digital in April, with a 4K release to follow in May. Years in production, the film features exclusive interviews with Carpenter and the production team, as well as creatives who have been influenced by the long-underappreciated but now-revered classic. A treasure trove for Thing and John Carpenter fans, THE THING EXPANDED reveals the details behind the scenes, the controversy and the triumph of one of the genre’s greatest films.

Of course, it’s impossible to discuss The Thing without heralding the groundbreaking work of special makeup effects master Rob Bottin. In this clip CREATORVC shared exclusively with RUE MORGUE, genre luminaries Frank Darabont, Guillermo del Toro and Alec Gillis reflect on Bottin’s genius and enduring impact.
