After a long period of speculation, it has now been confirmed that an episodic spinoff of the hilarious vampire mockumentary WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS is on the way.

Variety reports that writer/director/stars Jemaine Clement and Taiki Waititi will executive-produce the SHADOWS half-hour series for FX, with Clement scripting and Waititi (coming off a big hit with THOR: RAGNAROK) directing. Scott Rudin, Paul Simms, Garrett Basch and Eli Bush are also part of the exec-producing team, and the show will star Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou and Harvey Guillen. While no story details have been revealed, Waititi has previously said that the location of the house where a motley group of bloodsuckers live will be changed from New Zealand to America for the televersion. Clement and Waititi are also working on WE’RE WOLVES, a feature sequel to SHADOWS focusing on its lycanthropic supporting characters, and WELLINGTON PARANORMAL, a Kiwi-set series about SHADOWS’ cops Karen and Mike.
