Dick Maas’ elevated horror films THE LIFT and DOWN coming on Blue Underground Blu-ray/DVDs; info, art and trailers

Dutch director Dick Maas introduced a killer elevator as a new horror threat with his 1984 film THE LIFT, then remade it in English with an all-star cast in 2001 as DOWN. Now both movies are set to make their U.S. Blu-ray/DVDebuts courtesy of Blue Underground. Long-delayed James Wan-produced DEMONIC sees the light of DVD; details, art, trailer

Originally set to be released by Dimension Films nearly three years ago (around the same time the still-absent AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING was supposed to come out), the supernatural chiller DEMONIC, with counts THE CONJURING’s James Wan as a producer, is finally emerging from the shadows on disc. Read on for the info, cover art and trailer.Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced that it will release DEMONIC to DVD October 10.

Richard Stanley takes you into THE OTHERWORLD on Blu-ray/DVD this summer; details, art, trailer

Beyond his narrative horror features like HARDWARE and DUST DEVIL, Richard Stanley has also directed a number of documentaries an assorted unusual subjects, and ventures into the realm of the supernatural with THE OTHERWORLD, which is now set for special-edition disc release.Severin Films has announced that the director’s cut of the award-winning THE OTHERWORLD will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD August 29. The distributor describes it thusly:

Blu-ray Review: You’ll get a lot out of “GET OUT”

At the end of his audio commentary on Universal’s Blu-ray release of GET OUT (streeting May 23), writer/director Jordan Peele says he had the choice of leaving his movie’s meanings for the audience to discover, or “nerding out” and going into exhaustive detail on his talk track. Fortunately for fans of that form, he chose the latter, and yet all his explications don’t dilute the power of the film itself.
